The compiler of Sahih Muslim, Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, was born in 204 AH (817/18 CE) in Nishapur and passed away in 261 AH (874/75 CE) in his birth city. His extensive travels led him to collect approximately 4,000 hadiths out of 300,000 evaluated, adhering to stringent acceptance standards. Each narration undergoes meticulous scrutiny to establish the credibility of its reporter chain. Sunni Muslims regard this collection as the second most authentic after Sahih al-Bukhari, spanning 43 books and 7,190 narrations.
